It contains all updates up to Update 2. Update 2 was the second quarterly update for RHEL 3.0. Quarterly updates contain a rather large set of updated packages, typically tens of packages. Always Current Lineox Enterprise Linux 3.011 disk images were made and originally released as paid download May 17. 2004. Free downloads policy statement =============================== Red Hat has promised to make for 2.5 years quarterly updates for RHEL 3.0. They contain bug fixes and additional hardware support. Security fixes are the only errata released independent of the Updates. Lineox will offer Always Current Lineox Enterprise Linux 3.x based on these as free downloads when the next version is released. So the free Always Current downloads will be 3 to 6 months old. Free updates download policy Lineox currently offers updates for free, but to track the use, Lineox requires free subscription for accessing them. The free period ends Oct. 22. 2004. After that the updates will be offered as free downloads one month after their original release. Lineox will notify current updates subscribers again about the ending of the free period approximately one month before it ends. Red Hat 7.x updates service phasing out ======================================= Red Hat 7.x updates service wil be discontinued at the latest Oct. 22. 2004, but it will continue at least to the end of August. What's next? ============ Lineox has plans to make variations of our main product now that we have the product line and services otherwise ready and running at an acceptable level. The obvious one is 64 bit version for AMD processors. Itanium is not as popular and we will leave that for a later time. Expect x86-64 version of Lineox Enterprise Linux around the end of this month. A more ambitious one is a version with enhanced installation environment, which allows the person doing the installation to read the HTML formatted installation manual during the installation and change the size of the hard drive partitions with a graphical program. We can't make any promises about the time table of this product at this stage. You received this news letter because you have either subscribed to it or subscribed to our update service.
